2025 Wedding tips- Live Illustration and live painting

In just 3 minutes I'm going to share some of my best tips as a professional Live Illustrator, for making the most out of this unique, exciting experience!

So you're planning a wedding- congratulations!!

It is honestly such an exciting time. But it can also be overwhelming too. What if I told you that I could make Live Illustration less 'stress' and more of a serene experience? Live Illustration is a chance to surprise and delight your guests, treat them to a tangible keepsake that's full of heart and definitely not going in anyones bin, or left on tables!

So, my tips! As a Live Illustrator in the wedding and event space, here is my advice for getting the most out of your booking when working with me!

  1. Do research, and ask QUESTIONS! Don't be afraid to ask the questions you need to know, when you feel like you fully understand what you're booking, it feels so much less stressful. We as suppliers want you to full understand too, and whilst you might think that there are a lot of questions- we likely don't think this at all!

-I always offer a zoom consultation to my couples, and they are welcome to ask me any questions about Live Illustration, the booking process, the lead up to the day, and anything else they need to know!

  1. Have a think about logistics for your wedding day when you reach out and have a consultation. I really recommend this for a number of reasons:

A. It's so helpful for your suppliers, so they can quote you accurately, and know exactly how you picture the vision for your day. Having a booked venue and date is a must, but if you can give approximate timeframes, locations within the venue, and guest count- this is golden information for your suppliers!

B. You will be able to visualise live Illustration in your head, if you have thought about these logistics. Whilst myself, and many other suppliers, are not going to set your timeframes and location at the venue in stone the moment you mention them (I totally get that slight changes to schedules can happen!), if you have thought about these key considerations, it's possible to reduce the feeling of overwhelm as you know exactly what's going on. Did I also mention it's exciting too? When you start to picture those plans coming together, it's magical!

  1. Inform key wedding party members. This step is optional, but It can help your day run smoothly, and who doesn't love that?!

Informing your wedding party members about live Illustration will mean that they can help spread the word, and it also avoids you dearest family and friends missing out. Honestly, When Bridesmaids and other members of the wedding party come to see me to be Illustrated, they're often last! You can take it a step further and assign someone that 'job' or responsibility on your wedding day. If you have a toastmaster or MC, i'd recommend letting them know too!

  1. Ooh, a big one- if you can, get in touch early and reply promptly! If you need time to think over a package, communicate this with your suppliers. We totally get that a wedding can be one of your biggest investments, and vareful consideration is key! Communicating your intentions with taking time to think things through will build and nuture the relationship with your suppliers. I would however, recommend not stalling too much. Most wedding suppliers including myself, are often unable to hold dates without bookings. Please reach out early to avoid the awful 'Sorry, I'm alresdy booked!' email.

  1. And finally one last one, just off the back of point number 4, is not to rule out suppliers based on what you think their availablility is like. Sure, we are often booked up in advance, but I have had some incredible short notice bookings before, which has meant i've been able to work with the loveliest couples at short notice! It doesn't happen often, but if you're really hoping a supplier is available, it cant hurt to reach out!

And there you have it, 5 points to improve your live illustration experience and make the most out of your booking. A lot of these points can be applied to other areas of your wedding too! As always, I love to help, so if you have any further questions for me, my inbox is always open.

Wishing you love and kindness, and a 2025 full of joy!
